We didn’t until we stumbled upon educational content from medical professionals on TikTok (#healthtok).

It’s been great to see doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals use the social platform to talk about their professions and the healthcare industry in a way that the average person can understand through song, dance, or daily day-in-the-life vlog.

List of Healthcare Professionals to Follow on TikTok

To get you started on #healthtok, our team at Wingspan Health put together a list of our favorite healthcare workers on TikTok.

1) @DocSchmidt

Dr. Ben Schmidt (@docschmidt on TikTok) is a GI (Gastrointestinal) doctor who likes to make videos. (He’s also our medical advisor!)

He’s “Just a Dr tryin to go viral” in his words! He does it all – skit humor, educational content from GI terminology is to medical abbreviations, abridged day in the life vlogs, and even ✨magic✨. Call DocSchmidt the Childish Gambino of Healthcare.

2) @kishengodhia

Dr. Kishen Godhia (@kishengodhia on TikTok) is a TikTok dentist who makes educational content about your dental health.

He really knows your pearly whites from dental fun facts to debunking the DIY “beauty” hack of filing your teeth. Duet and try his dental facts for yourself!

3) @balancedanesthesia

Dr. Magnolia Printz (@balancedanesthesia on TikTok) is your “doctor mom.”

She’s an anesthesiologist who debunks myths about going through surgery. You’ll know she’s spitting hard cold medical facts when she puts her white coat on.

4) @mikiraiofficial

Miki Rai (@mikiraiofficial) is a registered nurse (RN) on TikTok.

She likes to create videos with her doctor boyfriend in a quirky and educational way through trending dancing overlaid with informational text about the different COVID-19 vaccines, having a career in nursing, and working as a healthcare professional in a global pandemic. Learn about nursing and healthcare with her through dance!

5) @dr.abbasnaqvi

Dr. Abbas Naqvi is a Family Medicine Physician who is applying his clinical practice outside of the healthcare facility – social media and gaming.

He makes educational TikToks about advocating for patients in healthcare, medical stories, and even life advice. Take a load off and stay for awhile listening to his stories and explanations!

6) @viv_obnurse

Vivian Nguyen is a registered nurse (RN) who uses TikTok as a platform to provide information about having a nursing career on TikTok by leveraging trending TikTok trends.

In addition to being a registered nurse, she’s verified to go viral (see the video on the left for reference) by showing snippets of working as a labor and delivery nurse. She posts a full gamut of nursing content from why do nurses work 3 12-hour shifts (and their disadvantages) to her tips to current nursing students to humorous skits.

7) @doctor.rod.md

Dr. Rodrigo Gerardo is a general surgery resident with a background in social media, television, and nutrition.

He uses his TikTok as a platform to get back into stand-up comedy using material from his experience working in medicine with TEDTalks, day-in-the-life skits, and (of course) his Only Hands content.
